Ellen Bryan -
Having graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wheaton College in 1974 with an A.B. in Biology and
later an M.S. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Texas, I bring 33 years of science teaching experience to TAIS. I have taught
and tutored a variety of math and science courses over the years at private boarding and day schools in Massachusetts, New York, Texas, and
currently New Hampshire. The past 17 years have been spent teaching full time at St. Paul's School in Concord, where I've taught Biology,
Ecology, Chemistry along with Marine Biology and AP Biology in the Advanced Summer Program.
I am an 'environmentalist' and love when
I am outside DOING something with my students, family or self! Married with two step-sons, one now residing in Denver and the other in
Houston, we spend time traveling between the east coast and the west. My husband is an avid sailor (we have a 30' Hunter), so aside from
sailing down Maine and the eastern coast and the Gulf of Mexico, we have bare-boated on numerous occasions in the Caribbean, and farther
field to Greece and Tahiti. Traveling and adventure are a passion for the two of us, since we have both spent time living overseas.
It’s hard to balance my love for the ocean, with my desire to be on land. I have a registered Connemara Appendix cross horse, whom I pleasure
ride, show low level dressage, and drive in a Meadowbrook cart and antique Portland cutter sleigh in the winter. I also enjoy hiking, walking
my cocker spaniel, playing tennis, and exercising. I spend the rest of my time gardening, cooking, sewing and enjoying my family and friends.
